Do you know that one of the least understood passages of scriptures is found in 2 Timothy 3:3?

Church leaders are constantly leading their followers astray because they just don’t understand the Bible. In Jeremiah 14:14 we read: “Then the Lord said unto me, ‘The prophets prophesy lies in my name: I sent them not, neither have I commanded them, neither spake unto them ...’”.

Religious leaders have relied on their own understanding and have sought to interpret the Bible according to their understanding. The Bible says in 2 Pet. 2:20: “Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.” It is therefore very important that we allow the Bible to interpret the Bible!

I have said time and again that the Bible is a coded book and is not meant for all to understand. I have quoted such scriptures as Isaiah 28:9-13 in which God sends Isaiah with a message for His people, and yet He (God) explains that the message is like a foreign language (tongue) which they would not understand and that it is designed so that doctrine is scattered “here a little and there a little”!

In Matthew 11:25, Jesus said: “I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes.” I have shown time and again that when Christ spoke in parables, His purpose was to conceal the meaning from those on the outside while revealing the meaning to His disciples. Those on the “outside” simply could not understand (Mark 4:10-12; John 10:6).

Have you ever wondered why the “wise and prudent men” - the world scholars - are unable to solve the problems of this world?

We live in a world of awesome discoveries in science and technology. A world in which knowledge has exploded in the last few decades. Yet at the same time, world troubles have multiplied. We are now on the brink of World War Three, which threatens to annihilate all life on planet earth if it were not for the coming direct intervention of God Himself (Matthew 24:22). Bloodshed, murder, corruption, divorce are all rampant. Husbands cannot get along with their wives, nor can neighbor with neighbor. The educated minds of this world are just unable to solve these problems, and that’s because these problems are spiritual in nature. In Ephesians 6:12 we read: “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world (the devil and his fallen angels), against spiritual wickedness in high places.” Yes, our struggles are not against individuals with whom we might encounter some kind of conflict but rather against Satan and his evil forces who are influencing the minds of these individuals (Ephesians 2:2). God tells us in Jeremiah 17:9: “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?” There is simply none who can solve these world problems except Christ, and He will at His coming and the establishment of God’s Kingdom over all the earth (Revelation 11:16; Daniel 2:44; Luke 1:31-33). At that time, God will put a new spirit (the Holy Spirit) in man and will take away the stony (rebellious) heart. He will put in him instead a heart of flesh (Ezekiel 11:19). This is what’s needed if we are to solve world problems, and this is what the “new covenant” is all about.

You have heard it said so many times that the “new covenant” is the covenant of grace. “We are now under grace!” they exclaim. Is that what your Bible teaches? Is that really what the new covenant is about? Would a just and righteous God, who dealt so harshly with the people of ancient times for breaking His laws, turn around today and say to us: “forget my law; just believe and you shall be saved by grace”? The book of James tells us: “Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone” (James 2:17) and: “For as the body without the spirit [spirit of man] is dead, so faith without works is dead” (James 2:26). Read Hebrews chapter eleven - the chapter on faith – and you will see how these men of faith, after first believing God, then confirmed their faith by acting on what God told them. If we believe Christ – that he is the son of God – then we must act on whatever he tells us. Christ tells us: “If you love me, keep my commandments” (John 14:15). The book of 1 John 2:4 tells us: “He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him."
