workman, with an axe. They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, so that it move not. They [the trees] are upright as the palm tree but speak not: They [the trees] must need be [needs to be] borne [carried], because they cannot go [they cannot walk of their own selves]. Be not afraid of them [the trees] for they cannot do evil, neither also is it in them to do good” (Jeremiah 10: 1 – 5). The Lord commands us to “Learn not the way of the heathen”.
Jesus Christ also tells us in Mark 7:7-8: “Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men. For laying aside the commandments of God, ye hold the traditions of men, ….” God simply will not accept any form of worship that He has not commanded and therefore to do so is to worship Him in vain! He simply will not hear you.
Careful study of the Bible reveals that Christ was not born in December. In 2 Corinthians 11: 4 God tells us: “For if he that commeth preacheth another Jesus whom we (the apostles) have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received (of God), or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye may well bear with him”. Folks, the Jesus you have been offered is not the Jesus of the Bible. You are being offered “a Jesus” who came to do-away with his father’s commandments: yet the true Jesus says: “Think not that I have come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill” (Mat. 5: 17). You were taught a gospel about the person of Jesus, yet the gospel Christ brought was a gospel of the Kingdom (government) of God (Mark 4: 1, 14. Mat. 10: 7, Isaiah 9: 6-7, Acts 1: 3, Acts 28: 30-31, Mat. 24:14. Revelation 5: 10, Revelation 11: 15). Almost no one realizes that even in the apostle Paul’s day a false gospel had already began to creep into the church! (Galatians 1: 6-9). Folks, the “Jesus” that you celebrate on the twenty-fifth day of December is not the true Jesus of your Bible!
We can determine the approximate time of birth of Jesus Christ if we search the scriptures diligently. In doing so we must be mindful of the fact that the biblical calendar – God’s calendar - starts the year in the early Springtime - in the month of Abib. It was in the month of Abib that God brought the Israelites out of Egypt (Exodus 13:3-6. Exodus 23:15. Deuteronomy 16: 1) and then He introduced a number of annual feast days and Sabbaths, beginning with the “Pass Over”. This event (the Pass-Over) is well recorded in Jewish history so that even today, thousands of years later, they observe the Pass- Over in the Spring of each new year! The Passover is followed by the “Days of Unleavened Bread” and many other feast days. God made it clear to Moses and Aaron that the very same month in which He brought them out of Egypt, that very same month in which they were to keep the Passover, were to be the “beginning of months” (first month of the year) unto them (Exodus 12:1-3, Deuteronomy 16:1). (See also Leviticus 23: for a more detailed look at God’s feast days). God, in re-establishing absolute truth to Israel, said to them: “This month shall be unto you the beginning of months: it shall be the first month of the year” (Exodus 12:2).
The angel of the Lord appeared to Mary (soon to be mother of Jesus) exactly six months after Elisabeth - the mother of John the Baptist and cousin to Mary - had conceived John the Baptist (Luke 1:5, 11, 13, 24, 26, 27). The angel visited Mary to announce that the Holy spirit would come upon her, and she would conceive and bear a child whom she was to call Jesus (Luke 1:26, 27, 36). Read also Luke 1:24 – 36. Now that we have established the fact that John the Baptist was born six months prior to the birth of Jesus Christ we, therefore, must determine the time of year that John was born, and subsequently the approximate time of year in which Christ was born.
